Experience the ultimate adventure with the Annapurna Base Camp Trek via Poon Hill, a stunning combination of two different treks that showcase the best of the Himalayas. This trip is perfect for those seeking a lower elevation hike with breathtaking mountain views and the chance to explore diverse cultures and countryside living.
Starting in the picturesque tourist city of Pokhara, the Annapurna Base Camp Poon Hill Trek takes you through rural villages such as Nayapul, Birethanti, Hile, Thikhedhunda, Ulleri, and Banthanti, before arriving at Ghorepani.
Ghorepani is a peaceful paradise that offers a fantastic panoramic view of the north side, stretching from the far west to east, and is home to the unique Pun Magar community. Poon Hill, which is named after the Pun Magar ethnic group, provides the best sunrise and sunset views, with the stunning Himalayan ranges appearing in golden colors.
The panoramic view gradually showcases the majestic peaks of Lamjung Himal, standing at an impressive 6,983m, followed by Annapurna II towering at 7,937m, and Annapurna IV reaching up to 7,525m.
The stunning Machhapuchhre peak, also known as Fish Tail, stands at 6,997m, while Gandharva Chuli peaks at 6,248m, and Hunchuli at 6,441m. Other peaks that can be seen include Annapurna South at 7,219m, Annapurna I standing tall at 8091m, Baraha Shikhar/Fang at 7,647m, Nilgiri South at 6,889m, Thapa/Dhampus Peak at 6,012m, Tukuche Peak at 6,920m, and the mighty Mt. Dhaulagiri towering at 8,167m.
As the Annapurna Base Camp Trek via Poon Hill traverses through the Annapurna Conservation Area, you will have the opportunity to observe diverse wildlife, including snow leopards, deer, wild goats, and many more, while also experiencing diverse vegetation.
The trail takes you through tea houses at Tadapani, Chhomrong, Sinuwa, Bambo, Dobhan, Himalaya, Deurali, Machhapuchre Base Camp (3,700m), and the final destination at Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m). The narrow gorge between the gigantic Machhapuchre/Fishtail and Hunchuli after Chhomrong is a highlight of the trek.
After exploring Annapurna Base Camp, the trail retraces to Chhomrong village, where you can then head to Jhinudanda for a natural hot spring. The Gurung community is the primary inhabitant in this area. The trek ends at Siwa (1230m) village, where you will then drive back to Pokhara.
The Annapurna Base Camp Trek via Poon Hill can be done in 8 days, but for a more pleasant experience, we suggest a 14-day trek. Shangrila Adventure is proud to offer this trek with expert local guides and porters, customized to your holiday schedule. We look forward to warmly welcoming you and providing a memorable experience.
